TOPIC: Problems uploading large PDFs

Problems uploading large PDFs 7 years 10 months ago #3093

eBook Store is really easy to set up and use and I had no problems at all with uploading small PDFs around 5Mb. A larger PDF (11.5Mb) begins to upload but causes a server crash (HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error). It seems most likely to be a timeout or memory problem so I've had my settings for
upload_max_filesize
post_max_size
max_execution_time
all increased significantly - but I'm still getting a problem, and one of the files I need to upload is around 22 Mb.

As an alternative route: I can load all my files via FTP with no problem. Is there a way of linking pre-uploaded files into eBook Store?

Thanks
David

Hi David,

Yes you can upload a smaller file and overwrite it via ftp.

QuickSell is not doing any processing of the files upon upload so the error is coming from the server or WordPress limitation, I think there was a
constant you can add to the config regarding the file upload size.

Thanks

One other way is to upload large file via your ftp onto your server .and then put a link to your hosted file in a pdf with thankyou and enter just this into the ebook store programme. The link should be a masker/shortener like bitly and they will never get your original link this way, just a little trick to hide uploaded large files for download when selling ebooks.

Hi there,

Chunked html5 uploads are coming to overcome file size limitation in hosting providers.

Cheers
