I created a test-case for downloading mp3-files:
  • Link Expiration is set to 72 hours
  • downloads per order is set to 3

After payment, I downloaded the file from the link on the Thank-You-page, then pasted the link to another browser-window and started a new download of that file.
I opened the same URL in another browser and downloaded the file again. Then again, then again... to this time, I have downloaded it more than 15 times.

I understood the above settings that the user can access the download of that file within 72 hours for at most 3 times.

Where did I go wrong? What can I do?

Hi,

Is it possible that you are testing while logged in as admin?

Can I have a look?

Cheers

Thank you for your quick response,

unfortunately, the problem persists when I am not logged in, even on another machine.

I'll set up a link to test and email it to you,

regards,

Michi

Thank you for your help.

The test case I set up for you did work properly, so I inquired in my original case that is downloading happily more than 25 times instead of 3 by now.

In the quick sell backend in the orders-view, the download-counter of that file in question is always 0.

What's going wrong?

My current idea is to delete the files and re-upload them. I hesitate because they are quite large and my broadband connection is not too broad.

Any suggestions?

Hi mate,

Are you starting those downloads simultaneously?

If you do, that's the case as QuickSell marks the download as complete once the last byte is sent to the client.

If your files are big you are able to start multiple downloads without finishing them, therefore succesful download is not being counted, because you don't want an user to download half of the file and run out of downloads in case the broadband resets the connection.

Do you think that's the case?

Looking forward to your reply

Kind regards,
Deian
